What is NephroCare?

NephroCare is a solution to the trade-off between precision and easy operability. It satisfies the need for a method of diagnosing kidney diseases from an early stage which is both simple and precise.

How does NephroCare work?

NephroCare consists of a combination of the marker substance FITC-F10 (water-soluble inulin fraction and fluorescein isothiocyanat), which is exclusively excreted through the kidney, and an electronic measuring patch used for transcutaneous kidney function measurement. During the measurement process with NephroCare, the patch is placed on the patient's skin before the marker substance is injected. The patch then measures the rate at which the kidney excretes the marker. The data gained is transferred to a computer to calculate the excretion half-life and the glomerular filtration rate (GRF). Based on this information, the doctor can evaluate kidney function immediately.

What are the advantages of NephroCare?

NephroCare's technological progress is due to the fact that, contrary to established methods, neither blood nor urine samples are needed and the GFR is available on the spot. The advantages which result from this are obvious: NephroCare is faster, more simple, and more precise than conventional methods. Therefore, it is suitable for a mass screening of patients at risk (prevention), as requested by professional medical societies.
