Printed Organic Electronics

What is organic Electronics?

Organic electronics is a future-oriented green technology involving environmentally-friendly energy generation, economical energy use, and the manufacture of electronic components in a way which protects resources, using conducting and semi-conducting plastics.

Printing as an innovative Production Method

Organic electronic also has a high potential for innovation with regard to the desired production process, printing technology. This production method is simple, cost-effective, and eco-friendly, thus allowing electronic components to be mass produced in a way, which is both ecologically and economically viable. When components are printed using organic materials, an ink made from certain soluble polymers is used, which can then be processed in large quantities using common printing processes such as screenprinting or inkjet. The organic polymers, which can be used an almost unlimited number of times, can be printed on largescale on a wide range of flexible substrates at relatively low temperatures and then integrated into a wide range of products.

Applications of printed organic Electronics

The possibilities for the application of printed organic electronics are as varied as they are fascinating, and will change our everyday lives:

  • Lighting & Displays
  • Electronics Displays
  • Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs)
  • Energy Harvesting
  • Organic Photovoltaics
  • Wireless Communication (RFID)
  • Printed Batteries
  • Organic Field Effect Transistors (OFETs)
  • Sensors
