iL joined a delegation trip to Finland and Sweden headed by Winfried Kretschmann. They visited scientific institutes and companies like VTT or Nokia in Oulu, traveled to the business region of Göteborg and celebrated the german reunification day with the German ambassador in Helsinki, Detlef Lingemann. World record inkjet printed perovskite solar cells with an efficiency of 18,5%


Scientists of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology develop a new coating process to manufacture perovskite solar cells by large-scale inkjet printing. KIT and InnovationLab reach 18,5% record efficiency of this process. In the next step the process may jump from laboratory scale to industrial scale.

Working together hand in hand under one roof enables us to cover the whole process from Lab to Fab. We are proud to show our unique network and the production of printed and organic electronics to an international audience.

The production for 2019 already started and still more to come


We are right in the middle of another industrial sensor production for Dr. Jean Bausch's Occlusion Control System. The first part of more than 100.000 flexible printed pressure sensors in different sizes are nearly done and we are waiting for the next run of 300.000 sensors in autumn and winter.

InnovationLab's next step to large-area electronics


InnovationLab printed its flexible pressure sensors with long-term partner Thieme on 1.1m x 2.1m foil to test the next level of large-scale printing. The printed pressure sensors are manufactured using a high throughput printing process. Such an additive manufacturing approach enables cost effective fabrication of large-area sensor arrays.


10th anniversary of InnovationLab at LOPEC


2,500 attendees from all over the world made this year’s LOPEC again one of the most impactful international Printed Electronics events. At our booth together with BASF New Business, we showed the latest commercially relevant demonstrators.

InnovationLab presents new demontrator at Printed Electronics USA


Last week BASF and InnovationLab exhibited again on a joint booth in Santa Clara and presented their latest joint project. The active matrix pressure sensor demonstrates the feasibility of printed organic electronics and its benefits in various applications.

LG and Samsung invest €25 million in CYNORA


LG Display and Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (“Samsung Ventures”) have decided to invest €25 million in a Series-B round to support CYNORA in the development of a portfolio of organic emitting materials for AMOLED displays that covers the full range of colors.

Dr. Jean Bausch GmbH & Co. KG and InnovationLab GmbH signed the contract for their future cooperation. The production of the new developed product OccluSense® by Bausch with integrated flexible printed pressure sensors by InnovationLab already started.


New company will be headquartered at the site of InnovationLab


BASF has announced a grand plan to explore new business opportunities in the 3D printing industry. They will be establishing a new group company, BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH, which will commence operations on 1 September 2017. The new company will be headquartered at the site of InnovationLab GmbH.


Inter-cultural Competences in Virtual Teams


Last week InnovationLab organized a two-day workshop held by Leadership Sculptor.
Leadership Sculptor coaches primarly R&D leaders and the participants got to know basics about practical project management tools, project risk management, running meetings, and the importance of personal competences for international projects.

Partner News: Researchers use a synthetic 'tongue' to sort out whiskies


In the journal Chem on June 8, researchers from Germany's Heidelberg University, led by Uwe Bunz, introduce an artificial sensor array or "tongue" that can detect whether two nearly identical whisky samples are a match. The sensor arrays can also identify some of the whiskies' key qualities, such as malt status, age, and country of origin.


Cross-Cultural Preparation at InnovationLab


Last week SinaLingua held a cross-cultural training about the South Korean culture at InnovationLab. The training gave a general view about the foreign culture and helped reading between the lines of various expressions.


Electronic components printed on substrats with 1,4 μm thickness


An interdisciplinary research group prints electronic circuits on thin films. These innovative thermoelectric generators (TEG) convert heat directly into electric power as soon as there is a condition of differences in temperature.
