TU Darmstadt (IDD)
The Institute for Printing Science and Technology's (IDD) research group, under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Edgar Doersam (TU Darmstadt) is part of the Printing Competence Center at InnovationLab.
The group's research is focused on printing functional materials on different substrates, such as Si-wafers, glass, coated glass and PET and studying their drying behavior under controlled conditions. Therefore, the underlying principles of fluid dynamics in layer formation, as well as the drying of wet films and their parameters, are investigated with a special regard to process technologies and their demands on printed electronics.
For this purpose, there are several printing techniques and characterization methods available at iL. In addition to the conventional printing methods, digital printing techniques can be used.
